our story

Vesta Garcia is the original powerhouse who built Stitch Texas from the ground up.

Vesta launched Stitch Texas in 2014. She wanted to reinvent what apparel development in Austin, Texas could look like, using Computer Aided Design (CAD) pattern making software and large-format plotting technology to bring the region into a new era of manufacturing.

Vesta hired Angie Ramirez, and shortly thereafter, Rebekah Hoffer, and as a trio, the team developed women's apparel, men’s apparel, ready to wear, baby apparel, and a variety of other sewn goods (various apparel and non-apparel projects). More technicians joined the team, and they traveled nationwide to work with other industry experts to bring apparel manufacturing back to the USA. Vesta’s outreach amplified as she grew Stitch Texas from a 3 person team, to a company known throughout the nation as one of the biggest players in the industry. Local job creation in apparel manufacturing was also a core part of Vesta's mission, and she was central to conversations with the City of Austin that led to the creation of the Austin Community College's Fashion Incubator. Due in large part to her tenacity and passion, designers and technicians in the sewn-product manufacturing field in Texas and beyond have launched projects that continue successfully today.

Those who knew her best, will tell you that she was an unstoppable force with a magnetic personality that brought people together to work, play, and celebrate life. From her beginnings growing up in her hometown of Austin, Texas, on the same streets where Vesta once won a skateboarding competition as a kid, she was equally determined to elevate the apparel industry across Texas and nationwide.

Shortly after Stitch Texas was established, Vesta was diagnosed with ALS, an autoimmune disease that would eventually take her life 4 years later, but not her spirit, nor that of the company she created. Upon Vesta’s passing, Angie took the helm at Stitch Texas to continue to provide the same high-quality service to the clients that were so important to Vesta.

In early 2022, Stitch Texas was acquired by the owner of Lefty Production Company. Now with Rebekah taking the reins, supported by a team of outstanding women, some who knew Vesta and some who did not, but who all share the same drive and passion upon which Stitch was founded upon. This new iteration of Stitch Texas provides clients a full suite of products and services for apparel manufacturing, both domestic and overseas through Lefty Production Co. The partnership between Stitch and Lefty allows clients to move swiftly from development into production, while maintaining close communication with technical experts every step of the way.

We are proud to carry on Vesta's mission. and build on her dreams to grow a thriving industry in Texas and beyond.
